is your building safe to stay?

Recently, i was shocked with the news Jaya Supermarket Seksyen 14 in PJ collapsed n had killed 2 people..luckily the building already abandoned bout 2 yrs ago..n moved to opposite road..

i still remembered my hubby used to have his haircut every 2 weeks there..n used to be our lepaking-evening plan..so i wonder this building is more than 20 yrs..n how safe is the building that u stay? eg: my previous apartment was build in 1980s..wohohoho thats more than 20 yrs! then how do we know whether the building is still safe? or are we just keep the blind eyes if we notice any cracks on ceiling or on the ground of the building..does it the indications that the building is not safe anymore? or should the management hire the engineer to check the place? lets say the engineer did so..i wonder does he measure with special equipment to ensure the place is safe? are we exposed to the informations that been examined? hmm..i wonder Bangunan Parlimen tu sudah tua..n anytime can collapse? anyhow the condo that im staying now also old enough i guess..n when there is strong wind or lightening i can feel the vibration since i stay at 10th floor..n does it make sense if the building collapse those who stay upper level is more safe than those on the ground? i dun think so! n yesterday the surrounding people who stay in seksyen14 have to evacuate their house coz the area is not safe anymore..n 1 family refused to leave..boleh gitu?
